As Co-Chair of the Advisory Board of the Global Knowledge Initiative, Serageldin was invited to a brainstorming meeting of the Arab Knowledge Initiative. The initiative aims to accelerate the development of knowledge and overcome the widening knowledge gap in the Arab World . It builds global knowledge partnerships between individuals and institutions of higher education and research.


The Advisory Board of the GKI comprises a number of eminent world figures including Nina V. Fedoroff (Co-Chair) Former Science and Technology Adviser to the Secretary of State; Vinton Cerf, “Father of the Internet”, Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist, Google; Calestous Juma, Chair, UN Task Force on Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor, Harvard University; Kiyoshi Kurokawa, Former Science Adviser to the Prime Minister of Japan.
