The Nelson Mandela Foundation invited Serageldin to present their Ninth Annual Lecture in Johannesburg . The aim of the lecture was to stimulate dialogue around a range of critical social justice issues. Previous speakers were Presidents Bill Clinton, Thabo Mbeki and Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Nobel Laureates Desmond Tutu, Wangari Maathai, Kofi Anan and Muhammad Yunus. The 2010 lecture was presented by writer and human rights activist, Ariel Dorfman.
A large audience of 1200 special guests and delegates gathered in the Linder Auditorium to attend Serageldin’s lecture, which was entitled “Pluralism, Cohesion and Social participation for Social Justice ”.
Established in 1999, after Mandela’s retirement, the Nelson Mandel Foundation contributes to the making of a just society by promoting the values and vision of its founder.
