As Co-Chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center(NGIC), Serageldin presided, together with Co-Chair Vaira Vike-Freiberga, Former President of Latvia, over the Board of Trustees meeting held in Athens today. Board members attending the meeting were Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO; Nazim Ibrahimov, Chairperson of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, Azerbaijan; Boris Tadic, Former President of Serbia; Petar Stoyanov, Former President of Bulgaria; Emil Constantinescu, Former President of Romania; Zlatko Lagumdzija, Former Prime Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina; Amre Moussa, Former Secretary General, Arab League; Noeleen Heyzer, Former Under Secretary General of UN.
Established in 2012, the NGIC works with the aim to become: "A center of excellence in the production and dissemination of knowledge and to become a place of dialogue, learning and understanding between cultures and peoples".
