To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Mauritius, the Office of The President of Mauritius, in collaboration with National Organising Committee, held a “High Level Discussion on the Need to Engage the Worlds of Art, Nature and Science”. President of Mauritius, Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, invited Serageldin to participate in the event and to give a lecture on “The Role of Art and Nature in the Evolution of Science”. The event took place at the State House in Le Réduit, and was opened with an address by the President of Mauritius. Also taking part was N.V. Ramana Rao, Jawaharalal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad; who spoke on “ The Role of Nature and Science in Creating Green and Energy Efficient Buildings for human Habitation”; Chunli Bai, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, speaking on “Science Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development”; and Michael Pinsky, Royal College of Art, UK, on “Can visual art affect viewer perceptions of climate change? The symbiotic relationship between art and science.”
