In Honor of Sadat

Serageldin welcomed HE Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak, First Lady of Egypt and Chairperson of the BA Board of Trustees; Mrs. Gihan El-Sadat, wife of the late President Sadat; Minister of Culture, Farouk Hosni; Minister of International Cooperation, Fayza Abul Naga; Governor of Alexandria, Adel Labib; as well as several other public figures, to the inauguration of a BA project documenting the life of President Sadat, comprising a museum, a digital archive and a Culturama show.

In his opening speech, Serageldin, said that the inauguration of the Sadat museum is a tribute to a man who sacrificed his life for his country, and who was the hero of war and peace. Serageldin added that the project, which was undertaken under the auspices of HE Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak and with the support of Mrs. Gihan El-Sadat, underlines one of the BA four objectives, to be “the world’s window on Egypt”.

The Sadat Museum is the first of its kind in Alexandria. It is launched in the context of the BA endeavors in documenting Egypt’s modern and contemporary history.
